ABOUT BIOGRAPHY

The Girl with the Blue Hair

Noluntu J, born Lissa Noluntu Sibanda on November 21, 2000, in South Africa—is a firebrand talent rewriting the rhythm of Southern African hip hop. Now based in Zimbabwe, the award-winning rapper, singer, and songwriter is renowned for her musical versatility, infectious multilingual flows, rich vocals, and the unmistakable signature of her Blazing Blue hair.

Her career began in 2018 with a modest duet alongside a friend, but it was in 2019 that her sound began to take shape under the mentorship of the late Cal Vin, founder of Kontrol Tribe Records. That formative period laid the groundwork for her evolution—not just as an artist, but as a voice reshaping the soundscape of a generation.

In 2022, Noluntu J reintroduced herself to the world with “Moko,” a breakout hit that not only amplified her name but also cemented her status as one of Zimbabwe’s top female rappers. From that moment, she wasn’t just a performer—she became uNdlunkulu, The Girl with the Blue Hair, a symbol of boldness, pride, and artistic sovereignty.

Her collaborative spirit has connected her with a diverse constellation of artists including Welsh The Stylist, Cosmos Roinuj, Sparks 45, Holy 10, OCD, The Minister of White Linen, Shingai, Crain, Jamal NoLimits, All Dresser, and Beats by Phana. Whether commanding the mic solo or sparking synergy in group projects, Noluntu J continues to carve a path that’s as distinct as her voice—and as vivid as her hair.
